Our ‘flex-semester’ academic calendar

The key features of the new flex-semester calendar include:

  • Two 12-week teaching semesters with a mid-semester break
  • Two optional six-week summer and winter terms for short, intensive or catch-up courses
  • Improved alignment with our hexamester calendar, which consists of six teaching periods per year. This will enable us to expand our lifelong learning offering and provide flexibility for new or additional post-graduate courses in the future.

*All calendar features subject to change based on consultations

Project timeline

To ensure a smooth transition to the flex-semester calendar in 2028, the project team will work with teams across the University to understand where transition support and adjustments are required.
